K-Style Gutters

The most commonly seen seamless gutter model in Central Pa is the 5 or 6 inch aluminum, “K-style” gutters. It’s named this way since the SMACNA association uses an alphabetical way of listing the most common gutter models on the market.

The two main reasons “K-style” is the most popular is that they have a decorative appearance that simulates crown molding, and they utilize a snap-in hidden hanger that makes it relatively easy to install.

Half-Round Gutters

The half-round gutters are in the shape of a half-circle or trough that faces upward toward the roof. They aren’t as deep as the K-style gutters and utilize a hanger system that makes them more labor intensive to install.

Half-round gutters, however, are very popular on historical homes and buildings since this is the original gutter system and dates back to the early 1900s. Just like the “K-style” gutters, half-round gutters can be installed in custom, seamless lengths.

The cost of seamless gutters is usually calculated by the lineal foot.

Factors that move the cost towards the higher end are the number of corners or miters and the height of your building.

Five inch aluminum “k-style” (aka “5K”) seamless gutters will cost

between $8 and $13 per foot.

Similarly six inch aluminum “k-style” (aka “6K”) gutters will cost

between $13 and $18 per linear foot.

To get a ballpark estimate for your gutters, simply measure the lengths of gutter and downspout and multiply it by the average of $10/ lineal foot for “5K” gutters and $15/ lineal foot for “6K” gutters.
